The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–New Delhi Vande Bharat (22478) now pulls out of Katra at 5:40 am, and several other trains on the Jammu–Katra stretch have been moved around with it. If you catch a train from Jammu Tawi or Katra this week, check the new time before you leave home.
The revised timings are effective on different dates between October 20 and October 25, 2026, according to a report published on October 20. The report lists only the new times, not the old ones, so compare against the ticket you booked.
The new times, train by train

What it means for a student or weekend traveller
The earliest departures are in the small hours, so anyone relying on a late-night auto or a hostel gate that opens at dawn should plan the ride to the station in advance. The Vande Bharat's 7:08 am call at Jammu Tawi means a morning-in, afternoon-out Delhi day trip is now harder to fit than before. Anyone heading to Katra for a weekend should also note the 4:47 am and 6:25 am arrivals on the Kalka and Sabarmati services.
Two further revisions in the same report, for 74906 and 16317, were left out here because the source gives no clear route or effective date for them.
Before you travel
The report itself advises passengers to confirm timings on the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or the railway's enquiry channels before travelling. We have not seen the Northern Railway notice itself, so treat the table above as a guide and check your train live on the day. For the Vande Bharat to Srinagar, see our student's guide.
