If you sat NEET-UG 2026 and are chasing an MBBS or BDS seat in J&K, there is a hard deadline this week you cannot miss — and a bit of good news on how many seats are actually on the table.

The story so far

Earlier this session, JKBOPEE opened NEET-UG 2026 counselling for MBBS and BDS seats in J&K, with the registration, merit-list and choice-filling stages we walked through in our earlier roadmap for Jammu aspirants. That process is now moving to its next stage.

What's new

Through notice NEET-UG-MEDICAL-NN-127, dated 30 July 2026, JKBOPEE has flagged a fix-it window for candidates who were left out. Anyone who appeared in NEET-UG 2026 but whose roll number is missing from the published list must submit their NEET score card, domicile certificate and category certificate (where applicable) to the JKBOPEE office in Jammu or Srinagar on or before 3 August 2026, up to 4:00 PM. Miss that, and you risk being locked out of the J&K counselling pool.

The seat picture, meanwhile, has grown. For 2026-27, J&K now has 1,725 MBBS seats — 1,525 in government medical colleges and 150 in the private college — after Government Medical College, Rajouri, was cleared to raise its intake from 100 to 150. That is 50 more doors than before for the region's medical aspirants.

JKBOPEE has said the online registration and counselling schedule will be issued separately, so the choice-filling dates are not yet fixed — keep watching the board's site for that notification.

What to do now

  • Open the roll-number list on jkbopee.gov.in and confirm your roll number is on it.

  • If it is missing, get your NEET score card, domicile and category certificate to the JKBOPEE Jammu or Srinagar office before 4:00 PM on 3 August.

  • Keep all originals and self-attested copies ready — registration will need them.

  • Watch jkbopee.gov.in for the separate registration and choice-filling notice.
