If you take a city bus to college or work, the fleet is about to get bigger. Under the PM-eBus Sewa scheme, a lowest bidder has emerged for 75 new electric buses for Jammu, according to a Kashmir Reader report of 8 October 2026.

What is decided

  • The buses are 7-metre, air-conditioned, standard-floor e-buses, allocated to Jammu as Lot-16 under PM-eBus Sewa Tender-3.

  • M/s PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Pvt Ltd is the lowest bidder (L-1). Convergence Energy Services Ltd told the J&K administration of the outcome.

  • The operator will supply, maintain and run the buses on city routes.

What is not decided

The administration still has to issue the Letter of Award and sign the agreement with the operator; deployment follows. The report names no routes, and gives no start date. It says only that the 7-metre size suits routes where smaller buses can manoeuvre through busy areas.

The fleet today

Jammu Smart City Limited already runs 100 electric buses, 25 of 12 metres and 75 of 9 metres. A further 25 12-metre buses are being manufactured under a contract signed in August 2026.

For young commuters the practical question is routes and frequency, which will only be known after the agreement is signed. We will update this story when they are announced.
