The word to notice on the University Institute of Engineering & Technology's newest admission notice is final. UIET Jangalote, Kathua — the AICTE-approved constituent engineering college of the University of Jammu — has opened a mop-up counselling and on-spot admission round for B.Tech seats still lying vacant for 2026-27, and the notice makes plain that there is no round after this one.
Two dates matter. Applications are accepted only by email until August 10. Everyone who makes the merit list then has to be physically present at the Kathua campus on August 11, where admission is granted in order of merit that same afternoon. Miss either and the seat goes to someone else.

Who can apply?
You need to have passed Higher Secondary Part II (10+2) or its equivalent with 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics — 45% for SC/ST candidates — from the J&K Board of School Education or any recognised board, with PCM as major subjects.
What makes this round unusually open is the selection order. UIET fills these seats on three preferences, in this sequence:
Your JEE Main 2026 score
Your CUET (UG) 2026 composite score across the domain subjects Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics
Failing both, 10+2 merit in PCM — used only if seats are still vacant after the first two
That third preference is the part worth reading twice. If you never sat JEE Main or CUET, you are not automatically out. If seats remain unfilled once the scored candidates are placed, a straightforward Class 12 PCM percentage becomes the basis of admission. For a Jammu-region student who missed the entrance-exam cycle entirely, this is a genuine, and possibly last, opening.
How the seats are split
Each of the three streams has a sanctioned intake of 60 seats. Of those, 80% are reserved for candidates from Higher Secondary schools inside the University of Jammu's jurisdiction, with the remaining 20% open to all, including applicants from elsewhere in the UT or the country. If the 80% quota does not fill, those seats are then offered to candidates from other parts of the UT or country.
The notice does not publish how many seats are actually vacant in each stream right now — only the sanctioned intake. If that number will decide whether the trip to Kathua is worth it, call the campus before you travel.
The application, step by step
Download and fill the application form following the steps on uiet.kathuacampus.in.
Pay the ₹1,500 registration fee. Online works (internet banking, NEFT, mPay), or pay offline at any J&K Bank branch into account 0345040500000175, IFSC JAKA0REVENU, J&K Bank Patel Nagar, Kathua, in the name of "Co-ordinator UIET, University of Jammu".
Combine the filled form and every supporting document into a single PDF file.
Email that one PDF to uietkc@jammuuniversity.ac.in. In the body of the email, state your name, parentage, board, latest JEE Main score, CUET (UG) score, 10+2 marks and percentage, and a contact number.
Keep a printout of everything you sent.
Documents to go into that PDF: your 10+2 marks sheet, your JEE Main 2026 score card, your CUET (UG) 2026 score card, a reserved-category certificate if one applies, and proof that you paid the fee.
Don't get caught out
Email is the only channel. The notice states flatly that applications received by any other mode will not be entertained.
Pay inside the window. An application is rejected outright if the fee is not deposited within the specified period.
Turn up in person. "Only those candidates shall be considered for admission who physically report at the UIET, Kathua Campus." There is no remote option.
Carry originals. Documents are verified physically on 11 August, and shortlisted candidates also submit one set of self-attested copies at the Co-ordinator's office and collect a receipt.
Bring the money on the day. The ₹47,510 admission fee is due at the time of admission on 11 August itself — by demand draft favouring "Coordinator UIET, University of Jammu", payable at Kathua, or by card on the POS machine. Bring your original offline payment slip, or a printout of the online payment screen.
Why this matters if you're in Jammu
Kathua sits about 85 km from Jammu city, comfortably inside a day's travel, and UIET is one of the few government engineering options in the region that is neither an IIT nor priced like a private college. A four-year B.Tech for a ₹47,510 admission payment, with a CSE stream, is a materially different proposition from the private engineering route most students in the belt end up taking by default.
It also arrives at the end of a crowded fortnight. If you have been working through the CSAB special round or the University of Jammu's on-spot rounds and come away with nothing, this is one more live door — and, on the notice's own wording, the last one at UIET this session.
