Friday is the day. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education is taking online examination forms for the Annual/Regular 2026 examinations in the October-November session, and 5 September 2026 is the last date at normal fee for Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12.
After that the form still goes in — JKBOSE has notified two late-fee windows — but it costs more, and it keeps costing more the longer you leave it. For a Class 12 candidate the gap between filing on Friday and filing the following Monday is 850 rupees. Leave it until the second window and the same form costs 2,190 rupees more than it would have this week.
The three windows, and what each one costs
Forms opened on 17 August. Here is the full schedule as notified:
Normal fee — until 5 September 2026
First late-fee window — 6 to 10 September 2026
Second late-fee window — 11 to 14 September 2026
The fee depends on your class and on whether you are taking five subjects or more than five. Class 10, the Secondary School Examination:
Five subjects — 1,300 rupees normal, 2,150 in the first late window, 3,490 in the second
More than five subjects — 1,535 rupees normal, 2,385, then 3,725
Class 11, Higher Secondary Part-I. Note that this one already includes a 240-rupee renewal registration fee, which is why it looks steeper than Class 10:
Five subjects — 1,750 rupees normal, 2,600, then 3,940
More than five subjects — 2,015 rupees normal, 2,865, then 4,205
Class 12, Higher Secondary Part-II, which includes a 50-rupee migration certificate fee:
Five subjects — 1,800 rupees normal, 2,650, then 3,990
More than five subjects — 2,065 rupees normal, 2,915, then 4,255
Read those columns across and the pattern is blunt. The penalty is not a token late charge. On every class and every subject count, filing in the second window costs roughly double the normal fee.
Who this actually applies to
This schedule covers the areas JKBOSE groups as Jammu Division and the erstwhile District Leh of the UT of Ladakh, and Kashmir Division and the erstwhile District Kargil. If you are a regular student in a Jammu school sitting the October-November session, you are in it.
One eligibility line matters more than any other: only institutions affiliated to JKBOSE for the academic session 2025-26 may submit these forms. If your school's affiliation is not current, the form cannot be filed through it, and that is not something you can fix on Thursday night.
The part students get wrong
Here is the thing worth being clear about, because it is where most of the panic comes from every year: you do not file this form yourself. It goes in through your institution, on the JKBOSE portal at jkbose.jk.gov.in. Your job is to make sure your school has what it needs from you, and that it has actually submitted.
Which means the useful thing to do today is not to refresh a website. It is to walk into the office and ask three questions:
Has my form been submitted, or only filled? A form saved on a dashboard is not a form submitted. Ask which one yours is.
Has the fee been deposited? Submission and payment are separate steps, and a form sitting unpaid on 6 September is a late-fee form.
Are my subjects right, and is my subject count right? The fee splits at five subjects versus more than five. A wrong count is both a wrong fee and, further down the line, a wrong admit card.
Check your name spelling, parentage and date of birth on the filled form while you are there. Corrections made now are administrative. Corrections attempted after results are a different and much longer story, and they are the single most common reason a certificate gets stuck at exactly the moment you need it for a college admission or a job application.
If you have already missed it
You have not lost the exam. That is worth saying plainly, because every year students assume a missed date means a missed year. It does not. The two late-fee windows run to 14 September, and a form filed in either of them is a valid form. It simply costs more.
What you should not do is drift toward the second window on the assumption that there will be a third. The notified schedule ends on 14 September. Nothing beyond that has been announced, and planning around an extension that has not been notified is how a candidate ends up outside the session altogether.
Why this one is worth the walk to the office
The October-November session is the one that carries a lot of Jammu's second-chance candidates — students who are clearing a subject, students who moved schools, students whose year did not go the way they planned. For that group especially, the form is the whole gate. Everything after it, the admit card, the centre, the result, the certificate you will need for a college form next year, hangs off a submission made this week by an office that is handling several hundred of them at once.
So make yours easy to find. Ask on Thursday, not Friday afternoon.
