If you have an exam centre to reach or a hill trip planned this week, the forecast is on your side. The weather department expects conditions to remain largely dry across Jammu and Kashmir till 9 November, The Northlines reported on 2 November.

Day by day

  • 3 and 4 November: dry.

  • 5 and 6 November: brief light rain and light snow possible, isolated, over higher reaches, mostly in the evening.

  • 7 to 9 November: dry again.

What it means

For students, board and university exams should not face weather disruption on the plains. For travellers heading to high-altitude spots, the 5 to 6 November window is the one to watch; the report gives no temperature figures, so carry warm layers for evenings regardless. Farmers have been advised to continue harvesting during the dry spell.

The University of Jammu's Diwali break, announced separately, runs from 6 to 11 November, so the dry run overlaps with the holiday travel rush. Check the department's latest bulletin before a long drive.
