If teaching is the plan, the University of Jammu has just opened the door — and it does not stay open long. The university's B.Ed Admission Notification-01 for the 2026-28 session, issued on 30 July, invites online applications for its two-year Bachelor of Education programme across its affiliated colleges of education. The form went live on 1 August and closes on 20 August 2026. Unlike some earlier notices, this one carries no late-fee grace window, so that date is a hard wall.

Merit / allotment list: 23 August 2026, after 5:00 pm, on the JU website (no personal message is sent — you have to check)
Physical verification & counselling (in person, at the allotted college): 24–25 August 2026
Admission-fee payment: 27 and 29 August 2026
Are you eligible?
You need a bachelor's or master's degree (the standard 10+2+3 route) in Sciences, Social Sciences or Humanities with at least 50% — relaxed to 45% for SC/ST candidates. If your degree is in Engineering or Technology with a specialisation in Science and Mathematics, the bar is 55%. The application fee is ₹1,000.
How the seats are actually decided
This is the part applicants most often get wrong: B.Ed admission here is not a simple percentage race. Selection runs in a strict order of preference. First in line are candidates with a valid CUET-PG 2026 score — you must have scored a minimum of 20 marks in the relevant paper (code COQP03). Only if seats remain after that list is exhausted does the university move to the next preference: a composite of your JUET-2026 score (weighted 25%) and academic merit (75%). Academic merit alone is the last fallback. Both CUET and non-CUET, and JUET and non-JUET, candidates are allowed to apply — but the entrance-qualified ones are considered first.
Where you can study
The programme runs across 22 NCTE-approved non-government colleges of education affiliated to JU, with a combined 1,750 seats. In each college, 75% of seats fall under the 'local' category (JU graduates, candidates within the university's territorial jurisdiction, wards of government/PSU employees posted there, and registered Kashmiri migrants) and 25% are 'other'.
For Jammu-city applicants, roughly eight of those colleges sit in and around the city — Chenab at Kaluchak, Kawa on Akhnoor Road, Galaxy in Sainik Colony, Ranjit at Kunjwani, National at Purkhoo/Domana, Sacred Heart and K.C at Paloura, and Trikuta at Bhalwal — with Dogra College of Education a short hop out at Bari Brahmana. The remaining colleges are spread across Samba, Udhampur, Kathua and Rajouri, so you can weight your preference list toward staying close to home.
The step-by-step
Apply on the official portal — jubedadmission.formapply.in — between 1 and 20 August, pay the ₹1,000 fee, and set your college and category preferences.
Check the merit/allotment list on the JU website on 23 August after 5 pm.
If allotted, report in person at the college with your original documents on 24 or 25 August for physical verification and counselling. A 'result awaited' or 'under process' certificate is not accepted.
Pay the admission fee on 27 or 29 August.
Don't get caught out
One line in the notification does more work than any other, and it is worth reading twice: the provisional admission is confirmed only after you have paid the admission fee. Simply applying, and even turning up for physical verification and counselling, does not secure your seat. Every year, candidates clear the merit list, attend the verification, assume they are in, and lose the seat by missing the 27/29 August payment window. Treat the fee payment — not the counselling — as the finish line.
Keep your degree marksheets, category and domicile certificates, and CUET-PG/JUET scorecards scanned and ready before you start the form, and don't leave the application to the final evening: a payment gateway hiccup on 20 August has no next-day rescue this cycle.
