Two athletes trained at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex (SMVDSC) in Katra took first and second place in the 21-km half marathon at the Kashmir Marathon on October 25.

Kriti won in 1 hour 37 minutes 1 second, and Sakshi followed in 1:39:41, according to a Greater Kashmir report datelined Katra on October 28. The report, based on a statement, gives first names only and does not name a coach.

Why Katra's result matters to Jammu

Katra sits inside the roughly 100 km belt that JammuBeat covers, and the complex is the kind of local training base a young runner in the Jammu division can actually reach. A one-two finish on a course in Srinagar is a useful marker that the pipeline from district-level training to open races is working.

What is not yet known

The same report mentions judo honours for SMVDSC athletes but names no athletes, event or results, so nothing is claimed here about judo. The athletes' surnames, ages and training programmes were not given. JammuBeat will update this report if the race organisers or the complex publish fuller details.
