J&K Tourism has won two awards at the India International Travel Mart (IITM) in Mumbai: "Best Adventure Tourism Destination" and "Best Experiential Tourism Destination". Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism Kashmir, received them on behalf of the department, according to a Greater Kashmir report published on 1 November.
What the delegation did
The two-day mart brought together tourism departments, travel operators and private stakeholders; J&K took part in the Mumbai edition alongside Gujarat, Telangana and private-sector participants. The J&K stall drew hundreds of local tour operators and stakeholders from Maharashtra, and the delegation met them to explore ways to promote tourism and attract more visitors. Vivek Puri, CEO of the Surinsar Mansar Development Authority, was part of the delegation.
What the report does not say
It does not name any Jammu destination, give visitor targets or quote officials, so we cannot say which places were pitched. The Surinsar Mansar Development Authority looks after the Surinsar-Mansar lakes area near Jammu; its CEO's presence in the delegation suggests the area was part of the pitch, but that is our inference, not the report's.
Why it matters
Promotion to Maharashtra operators matters for jobs in guiding, homestays and transport. If you are thinking about hosting visitors, see our explainer on the J&K Homestay Policy.
