While much of Jammu wraps up in blankets and slows to a winter crawl, one group has no such luxury — the city's exam aspirants. January is crunch time. JEE Main Session 1 is scheduled across the back half of the month, roughly the 21st to the 28th, and the CUET UG notification is out with registrations running through to the end of January. If you are sitting either, here is how to keep your head.
Lock the logistics first
Boring, but it is what trips people up. Confirm your exam city and slot, download and recheck your admit card details, and do a dry run of the route to your centre — remembering that January fog can slow Jammu traffic to a standstill. For CUET, get the registration done well before the deadline rather than gambling on the last night and a patchy connection.
Study smart, not just long
With the test this close, this is revision territory, not new-syllabus territory. A few things that genuinely help in the final stretch:
- Do timed mock papers in the same time slot as your real exam, so your brain learns to peak at the right hour.
- Revise what you already know cold rather than panic-learning new topics that will only rattle your confidence.
- Fix your sleep. Late-night cramming in a freezing room helps no one; a rested brain outperforms a stuffed, exhausted one.
Keep the panic in proportion
One Session, one attempt, is not your whole life. JEE offers a second session in April, CUET feeds a huge range of universities, and a single bad day is recoverable. A first-year student who went through the same grind last winter put it simply — the people who do well are not the calmest by nature, just the ones who keep showing up to the desk.
So make your chai, sit at the desk, do the next mock, and let the fog handle the world outside. You only have to handle the paper in front of you.
