What was signed
On Tuesday, October 27, the CIED-IUST Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding with the YUVA Innovation Hub of IIM Jammu, under Mission YUVA, at the IUST Innovation Campus in Awantipora. The stated aim is to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation and promote youth-led enterprises across J&K.
What it covers, as described
- Knowledge exchange, mentorship, capacity building and institutional support for aspiring entrepreneurs.
- Links between IUST's entrepreneurship ecosystem and Mission YUVA's enterprise initiatives.
- Stronger support for young entrepreneurs and innovation-driven ventures, aimed at employment and sustainable growth in J&K.
Vivek Aggarwal, IAS, Director of Employment and Managing Director of Mission YUVA J&K, praised IUST's entrepreneurship work and said the tie-up would help in "nurturing entrepreneurial aspirations among young people." Prof. Parvez Ahmad Mir, CEO of the CIED-IUST Foundation, noted that IUST has held a four-star rating under the Institution's Innovation Council framework for three consecutive years.
What it means for a young founder in Jammu
IIM Jammu's hub is the Jammu-side partner, so the agreement points to a route for founders here to mentorship that spans both divisions. The reports do not yet say what a founder can apply to: no funding, intake dates, eligibility or number of places was announced. Until those details come, treat it as an agreement to cooperate rather than a programme you can join. For the scheme itself, see our plain-English guide to Mission YUVA for young founders.
