For a Jammu student who wants to study law at a top National Law University, the road out of the UT runs through one exam — and it just opened. The Consortium of National Law Universities has begun registration for CLAT 2027, the single common entrance test for admission to the country's NLUs at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Why it matters here specifically: J&K has no NLU of its own. A young person in Jammu who wants that pedigree — the five-year integrated BA.LLB at a national law school — has to clear CLAT and take up a seat in another state. So the exam isn't one option among many; for NLU ambitions, it is the gateway.

Using the four months well
An August-to-December runway is generous — if you use it. The UG paper is a comprehension-heavy test of English, current affairs and general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques; it rewards reading speed and steady practice far more than last-minute cramming. Two practical moves for Jammu aspirants: register early so a payment or document glitch doesn't cost you in the last week, and pick up the Consortium's past papers to learn the exam's actual style rather than relying on coaching hearsay.
Register only through the Consortium's official portal, consortiumofnlus.ac.in, and ignore any third-party site that asks for a fee to "apply on your behalf."
