Research jobs in Jammu tend to close before anyone hears about them. Three are open right now across two institutions, and the earliest two shut on Monday 15 September. Here is exactly what each needs.
1. The walk-in: CSIR-IIIM Jammu, Tuesday morning
No online form, no fee. You turn up with your documents.
- Post: Project Associate-I, one position (Advertisement 31/2026)
- You need: M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, or M.Pharm / M.S. in Natural Products, Medicinal Chemistry or Pharmacognosy
- Age: up to 35
- Pays: ₹31,000 a month plus HRA if you have cleared NET or GATE; ₹25,000 plus HRA if not
- When: Tuesday 15 September 2026, reporting between 9:00 and 10:00 AM
- Where: CSIR-IIIM, Canal Road, Jammu
Do not be late. The advertisement states plainly that candidates reporting after 10:00 AM will not be allowed to appear. Bring the filled Annexure-I from the advertisement along with your originals. The post sits on a Ministry of Earth Sciences project running to 26 February 2027, and no travel allowance is paid for attending.
2. The one with the lowest bar: field work at Central University of Jammu
This is the most accessible research job in the belt right now — a plain social-science degree is enough.
- Field Investigator — three posts. Graduate in any social science discipline with at least 55%. ₹20,000 a month, consolidated, for three months, extendable by three.
- Research Assistant — one post. Postgraduate in a social science discipline with at least 55%, plus NET, M.Phil. or Ph.D. ₹37,000 a month, consolidated, for two months, extendable by one.
Both sit on an ICSSR-funded project in the Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, studying urban governance and the Smart Cities Mission in Jammu and Srinagar — so the field work is here, in this city.

3. The longer one: a fellowship with an ETH Zürich tie-up
- Post: Junior Research Fellow, one position, Department of Environmental Sciences
- You need: M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences or Atmospheric Sciences with at least 55%, and NET or GATE
- Pays: ₹37,000 a month consolidated, plus HRA
- Closes: 23 September 2026

The project, ICE-CRUNCH, is funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences and run with ETH Zürich in Switzerland, studying ice-nucleating particles and cloud condensation nuclei at a high-altitude site in the Jammu region. Knowledge of aerosol measurement and data analysis in MATLAB or Python is listed as desirable. Send a CV, transcripts and a one-page motivation letter alongside the application form.
