The JKSOS Class 10 and Class 12 examinations run from July 11 to July 31, 2026, according to the date sheet released by the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE). Open School exams matter because the certificate they award carries the same weight as a regular board certificate — it's recognised for college admissions, competitive exams and jobs — but the pathway is flexible, designed for people who can't follow the standard school calendar.
The schedule at a glance
Class 10 (Secondary): morning session, starting 9:30 AM.
Class 12 (Higher Secondary): afternoon session, starting 1:30 PM.
Dates: spread across July 11–31, with papers scheduled subject-by-subject across the Arts, Commerce and Science streams.
The morning-and-afternoon split is deliberate: it means a candidate appearing in both levels, or juggling other commitments, can plan around a predictable daily rhythm. Exam-day rules — don't get caught out
A few instructions are worth repeating, because small slip-ups cost real marks:
Carry your valid JKSOS admit card. No admit card, no entry — keep it printed and safe.
Reach early. Candidates are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the paper begins. Factor in Jammu's summer traffic and the Yatra-season diversions around the city.
Leave the electronics behind. Mobile phones and smartwatches are barred inside the exam hall. Don't risk your paper over a device you could have left at home.

Open schooling is one of the quietest but most important tools for keeping education within reach of young people whose lives don't fit the standard timetable — school dropouts wanting to complete matriculation, students who need to clear or improve a subject, and working youth chasing the qualification that unlocks the next step.
