What a CGA Adalat is

Northern Railway's Jammu Division has called "CGA Adalat-2026" to clear pending Compassionate Ground Appointment (CGA) cases. A CGA is a job offered to a dependent of a railway employee when the employee dies early in service, is declared medically completely unfit, or goes missing during service. The Adalat is a sitting where pending cases are heard; it is chaired by the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Jammu, with the Senior Divisional Personnel Officer in attendance.

Who can bring a case

Dependents or widows of railway employees who died untimely in service, were declared medically completely unfit, or went missing during service. Only cases registered under the Jammu (Railway) Division are considered.

What will not be discussed

  • Cases already closed
  • Cases pending in court
  • Policy matters

How to apply

Send a detailed representation along with two copies of all supporting documents to the Personnel Branch at the address above before November 5. The notice, as reported, does not list the specific documents or say whether you can attend without a representation, so confirm with the Personnel Branch.

Why it matters to young Jammu

For many young people in railway families, a compassionate appointment is the route into a government job after a family loss. Cases that have waited a long time, often for want of a hearing, are what an Adalat is meant to move.

The details come from the Division's press release as published by Greater Kashmir; we could not find the notice on a Northern Railway page.
