The date sheets are out. JKBOSE has notified subject-wise schedules for the Annual Regular (October–November) 2026 session for Classes 10, 11 and 12, under notification no. ACD/CD-01(NTS)/2/2026-01-7978427 dated 16 September 2026.

First, check whether this is even your exam

This is the single most important line in the piece, so it goes near the top: this date sheet covers Kashmir Division, the winter-zone areas of Jammu Division, and Ladakh. It is not the schedule for Jammu city or the rest of the summer zone, whose annual examinations run on the spring cycle.

If you study in the higher reaches of Udhampur, Reasi or Ramban, or anywhere in the Chenab belt that follows the winter academic calendar, this is you. If you are at a school in Jammu city, Samba, Kathua or the plains, it is not — and you should not be rearranging your revision around these dates.

Class 10: October 19 to November 18

The Class 10 papers run across a month, with useful gaps between the heavy subjects:

  • 19 October — Mathematics

  • 22 October — Urdu / Hindi

  • 27 October — Science

  • 31 October — English

  • 4 November — Social Science

  • 7 November — Music

  • 9 November — Additional / Optional subjects

  • 11 November — Vocational subjects

  • 14 November — Home Science

  • 16 November — Painting / Art & Drawing

  • 18 November — Computer Science

Note the shape of it: Maths on day one, then a three-day gap, then Science eight days later and English four days after that. The three papers most students lose sleep over are spread across the first two weeks rather than stacked.

Class 12 and Class 11

Class 12 begins on 21 October with General English and concludes on 21 November with Computer Science and Information Practices.

Class 11 starts later than both — 29 October, also with General English — and runs longest, finishing on 30 November with the language papers.

All papers are 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. That is worth internalising now if you are travelling in from a village to a centre in town: an 11 AM start means leaving early enough to absorb one thing going wrong, not exactly enough time on a good day.

What has not been announced yet

Two things are still outstanding, and neither should be guessed at.

Practical examination dates are to be notified separately. The date sheet covers theory papers only. For vocational subjects, external practicals additionally require a separate notification from the Joint Secretary. If your subject has a practical component, your exam season is longer than the table above suggests — you just do not know by how much yet.

Admit cards have been reported as due in the last week of September. We are flagging that as reported rather than confirmed — it appeared in one outlet's coverage and we could not resolve it to the board's own notification. Check the portal rather than relying on a date from a news report.

How to read a date sheet, if this is your first one

A schedule is a planning document, not just a list. Three habits are worth forming now rather than in the last week:

  • Work backwards from each paper, not forwards from today. The gap between Science on 27 October and English on 31 October is four days — that is your English revision block, and it is fixed whether you plan for it or not.

  • Find your centre before the week of the exam. An 11 AM start sounds generous until it involves a bus that runs twice a morning. Do the journey once, on a normal day, before you have to do it on the day that counts.

  • Do not build the plan around the optional papers. Computer Science on 18 November and Painting on 16 November sit at the far end of the calendar. It is easy to let them drift and then lose the last fortnight to them.

Where to check, and a note on the portal

The board's coverage of this notification points to jkbose.jk.gov.in. That is a change worth noticing if you have older bookmarks: the board appears to have moved off the jkbose.nic.in address that most saved links and most search results still point at. If a bookmark 404s or times out, try the jk.gov.in address before assuming the site is down.

One honest caveat about this piece: we were not able to reach the board's own servers to read the notification PDF directly — both addresses refused our requests. Everything above is drawn from five independent outlets that agree on the notification number, the dates and the zones. Before you commit a date to memory, open the official PDF yourself and check your own subject line. A date sheet is exactly the kind of document that gets a corrigendum.

If you are somewhere earlier in the chain

If you filled your exam form during the window that closed on 5 September, you are in this cycle — we covered the fee table and that deadline here. If you came through the bi-annual route, the Class 10 bi-annual result and what it meant for your next move is here. And if you are in Class 12 and still weighing a subject change, the rules on that changed recently.
