The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has scheduled a retest for 67 candidates who were unable to sit the Junior Assistant recruitment exam on 19 July after question booklets and OMR answer sheets ran short at their centre — the Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research, Nardani, Kot Bhalwal.
The exam, held across centres in Jammu and Srinagar for 48 advertised Junior Assistant vacancies, had already been switched this cycle from an online computer-based test to an offline OMR-based written exam. When the affected candidates couldn't be provided exam material on the day, the Court ordered a fresh sitting within two weeks and a formal inquiry into how the shortage happened, while assuring the candidates they would not be disadvantaged by the mix-up.
The retest, officially
A notice from the Registrar Recruitment's office, issued 22 July, sets the retest for 2 August 2026 (Sunday), with candidates reporting by 10:00 am and the exam itself running 12:00 pm to 1:20 pm, at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rehari, Jammu. Fresh admit cards go live on the Court's website from 29 July, and candidates must carry a printed copy along with valid photo ID — the syllabus, format and difficulty level stay identical to the 19 July paper, so no separate preparation is needed beyond what candidates already did.
For the 67 candidates caught out by an administrative shortfall rather than any fault of their own, the retest closes out what could otherwise have cost them a shot at one of a limited 48 vacancies. The ordered inquiry into the shortage is separate from the retest and doesn't affect the 2 August schedule.
