The National Testing Agency has opened applications for the first of two JEE (Main) 2027 sessions, and the window is short: the form closes at 11:50 PM on 22 November 2026. If you are in Class 12 in Jammu, or repeating for a better rank, here is what NTA's public notice of 24 October actually says.

Quick facts

  • Apply and pay: 24 October to 22 November 2026, at jeemain.nta.nic.in (card, net banking or UPI).

  • Late submission with a Rs 500 late fee: 23 to 26 November.

  • Correction window (website only): 27 to 29 November.

  • Exam city announced: 30 December 2026. Admit cards: 13 January 2027.

  • Exam days: 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2027, in two shifts. The three-hour paper runs 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM; the three-and-a-half-hour B.Arch and B.Planning papers run 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

What is being tested

Paper 1 is for B.E./B.Tech seats at NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutions, and is also the eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), the route into the IITs. Paper 2A covers B.Arch and Paper 2B covers B.Planning. For 2027-28 there are two sessions: this one in January and a second in April 2027, for which a separate application will open later.

The rule that catches people out

On 30 October NTA clarified that a candidate who made an error may submit a fresh form even after generating an application number or paying the fee. Only the last form with the fee paid and the confirmation page generated counts. The earlier fee is neither refunded nor adjusted, and everything, including the photograph and signature, must be uploaded again.

NTA's advice is simple: if you only need to amend details, wait for the 27 to 29 November correction window rather than starting over. And never appear using two application numbers; the notice says doing so is treated as unfair means.

What the notice does not say

The two notices do not list fee amounts by category or the exam centres in Jammu; check the information bulletin on the NTA site for both. Helpdesk: 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, jeemain@nta.ac.in.
