The Yonex-Sunrise All-J&K Senior and Junior Ranking-cum-Selection Badminton Tournament, organised by the Badminton Association of J&K with the J&K Sports Council, is expected to draw around 150 shuttlers, including the union territory's leading players.

Why it is more than a weekend of matches
This event is the primary selection trial for the J&K team that will play the North Zone Inter-State Badminton Championships at Bhilwara, Rajasthan, from September 2-6. In other words, the players who do well in Jammu next weekend are the ones who go on to represent the union territory outside it. For a young shuttler, a good run here is a direct line to inter-state competition.
It is also one of the rare local sporting events you can simply turn up and watch. The senior and U-19 draws mean you get everything from experienced state players to teenagers making their case for selection, all under one roof over three days.
