The story so far
In July, JKEDI launched the Startup Idea Challenge 2.0 — a competition aimed at people who have an idea rather than a company, with a school track for Classes IX to XII and an open track for anyone 18 and over. In August we reported that it was touring J&K's campuses and set out what was confirmed at that point. The prize pool on the official portal is ₹10 lakh-plus across 30-plus awards, spanning 20-plus districts and 50-plus eligible sectors.
What is new
The boot camps have reached Jammu city's polytechnic, and the funnel numbers are now visible.
On 22 September, JKEDI's District Centre Jammu ran its fourth Startup Idea Challenge 2.0 boot camp at Government Polytechnic College Jammu. Of roughly 150 participants, 14 pitched to a jury, and 5 ideas were shortlisted for the next stage.
That is a useful ratio to know before you enter: about one in ten got to pitch, and one in thirty went through.
The jury was Mohit Hans (Senior Representative, J&K Bank), Raj Shekhar (HoD, Automobile Engineering), Anshul Mahajan (Lecturer, Mechanical Engineering) and Akash Gupta, a startup entrepreneur. JKEDI Assistant Faculty Shiwani Sharma briefed participants on the J&K Startup Policy 2024-27, under which the challenge sits.

What you should do differently
Registration is still open on JKEDI's own portal at jkedi.in/idea2.0, and the form is short: name, email, WhatsApp number, age category, institution, district, sector, a proposal title and description, plus an optional pitch deck of up to 2MB.
Two honest gaps. No registration deadline and no Grand Finale date have been published anywhere, including on the official portal — so "still open" is accurate today and we cannot tell you how long that lasts. Do not wait on an announcement that may not come.
Also worth flagging: some coverage circulating a prize split of ₹1 lakh / ₹70,000 / ₹30,000 is from the 2025 first edition, not this one. The 2.0 portal says ₹10 lakh-plus and 30-plus awards, and does not publish a per-prize breakdown.
JKEDI lists direct support numbers on the portal for college and school entrants, which is unusually accessible for a government scheme — use them rather than guessing at eligibility.
