Two three-month certificate courses. Thirty seats in each. A total fee of ₹5,000, payable in two instalments. Applications close on 25 September 2026.
That is the entire offer from the Department of Electronics at the University of Jammu, and it is worth spelling out properly, because short technical courses at this price do not come along often in this city. The pair is also unusually open at the door: a Class 12 science pass-out and a B.Tech graduate can apply on exactly the same form.
The two courses, and who each one is for
The department is running them in parallel, and they have deliberately different entry bars.
Installation & Maintenance of Solar Panels. Open to candidates with 12th with science, a three-year diploma in engineering, B.Sc. (Non-medical), M.Sc., B.E. or B.Tech in relevant subjects. This is the more accessible of the two — school-leavers qualify.
Embedded System Design. Open to candidates with a three-year diploma in Electronics & Communication, Electrical or Computer Engineering; B.Sc. (Non-medical); M.Sc. in Electronics or Physics; or B.E./B.Tech in E&C, Electrical or Computer Engineering. A Class 12 pass alone does not qualify here.
Both run for three months and both cap intake at 30, so there are 60 seats in total across the two.
What it costs, and how the money moves
The fee is ₹5,000 per course, to be paid in two equal instalments. Payment is electronic only — NEFT, UPI, net banking or QR code — into the account of the Head, Department of Electronics: account number 0345040100006503, IFSC JAKA0CANAAL, J&K Bank, New University Campus, Jammu. There is no cash counter anywhere in this process, and the notification does not mention a separate application fee on top.
How to apply, step by step
Get the prescribed application form, either from jammuuniversity.ac.in or from the Department of Electronics office directly.
Pay the fee electronically to the account above, and keep the transaction receipt.
Fill the form and gather your supporting documents.
Submit the form along with the documents and proof of fee payment — either as a scanned copy emailed to hodelectronicsju@gmail.com, or physically at the Department of Electronics, University of Jammu, New University Campus.
Both routes are explicitly accepted, which matters if you are applying from Kathua or Udhampur and would rather not make the trip twice. The order also matters: the notice asks for proof of payment to travel with the form, so pay first, apply second.

Why these two subjects are the ones on offer
Neither course was picked at random. Rooftop solar is being installed across Jammu and Kashmir at a pace that needs people who can mount, wire and maintain the panels — the UT has already crossed 40,000 rooftop installations, and every one of them is a system that will eventually need servicing. Embedded system design sits at the other end of the same technical ladder: it is the entry skill for hardware and IoT work, and it is the sort of thing a Jammu electronics graduate usually has to leave the UT to learn hands-on.
One honest caveat. The notification is a course advertisement, not a job scheme — it makes no placement promise, and none should be read into it. What it offers is a certificate from an A++ accredited university, three months of structured teaching, and a fee that a student can plausibly cover.
What the notice does not tell you
Worth knowing before you commit ₹5,000. The notification does not state class timings, and it does not say whether teaching is in person at the New University Campus, online, or a mix — so if you are working, or travelling in from outside the city, that is the first thing to ask on the contact numbers. It does not describe a selection test either. What it does say is that a list of selected candidates will be published on 29 September, which implies shortlisting rather than first-come-first-served, but the basis for that shortlisting is not spelled out.
The two-instalment structure is the one piece of good news buried in the fee line: you are not asked for the full ₹5,000 up front. And because the fee is paid before the form is submitted, keep the transaction reference somewhere you can find it — it is part of the application, not a receipt you file away.
Where this sits among Jammu's other options
Most short technical training in this city sits in one of two places: private computer institutes, which are quick to enrol you and vary wildly in quality, or centrally-funded skilling schemes, which are free but run in batches you have to catch. A university department course is a third thing — it is taught by the same faculty who teach the degree programmes, it carries the university's name on the certificate, and it has a published fee rather than a negotiated one. Sixty seats across two courses is not many for a city this size, which is the practical argument for applying early rather than on the 24th.
Before you send the form
Read the eligibility line for your course rather than the other one — they are genuinely different, and the embedded course is the stricter of the two. Check that your degree subject is on the list as written. Pay before you apply, not after. And send it well before the 25th: an email that bounces on the last afternoon leaves you no room to fix it.
