On Sunday evening, October 25, a stage in Jammu carried the UT's folk traditions as one story. Natrang Jammu performed Colours of Jammu & Kashmir, a cultural production written and directed by Balwant Thakur and supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Jammu, Rakesh Jewellers and Varun Beverages, according to Daily Excelsior.

The idea, the report says, was "unity in diversity": rather than showing each folk form separately, the piece combined them into "integral elements of a larger cultural mosaic". Thakur said it was designed for national and international platforms, as a cultural introduction to the region. The report describes it as having vibrant costumes, energetic movement, evocative music and stagecraft, ending in a finale that left the audience enthralled.

Who made it

  • Choreography by Sunny Mujoo; lighting by Pankaj Sharma and Shivam Singh; anchor Neeraj Kant.
  • The cast of about two dozen included Kananpreet Kaur, Sakshi Gupta, Sana Chauhan, Vani Thakur, Arya Sharma, Pallavi Sharma, Anshika Wazir, Muskaan Gupta, Amit Rana, Sanket Bhagat and others.
  • Minga Sherpa, District Development Commissioner, Jammu, was chief guest. He praised Natrang's "innovative efforts" and its sustained contribution to preserving and promoting J&K's cultural legacy. Also present were Hemant Kumar Sharma, Sonali Arun Gupta (Additional Secretary, JKAACL), Ela Choudhary and Javaid Rahi, Secretary, Kala Kendra Jammu.
