Two days ago, JammuBeat explained J&K's new five-zone transfer policy and 100-point matrix. The material development today is that the policy has moved from a rulebook to an actual application cycle: the School Education Department's Annual Transfer Drive 2026 is open online from August 23 to September 8.

The window matters to government-school staff across Jammu because the department says applications will be accepted only through the designated portal. There is no offline route for this drive.

Who the notice covers

The department has invited eligible Teachers, Masters, Lecturers, Principals and equivalent officers, Headmasters and equivalent officers, and Zonal Education Officers and equivalent officers to apply for the 2026 academic-session transfer drive.

Participation is mandatory for employees who have completed a prescribed tenure in administrative offices, SCERT, DIETs, JKBOSE or Samagra Shiksha, as well as staff who have spent three years or more in Zone I or Zone II. Other eligible employees can seek a move after completing the prescribed tenure in Zones III, IV or V, or on recognised special grounds supported by documents.

What to do before September 8

  • Open the Annual Transfer Drive portal and use the online application only.

  • Read the eligibility conditions against your present posting and zone before choosing preferences.

  • Upload the documents required for any medical, security, disability, single-parent or other special-ground claim.

  • Submit only one application. The notification says multiple applications are not permitted.

The transfer itself is not automatic. Preferences are considered against the point-based matrix, available posts and administrative requirements. After the provisional list is issued, the process includes a 15-day period for objections or grievances.

What is new since our first story

The earlier policy established the zones, tenures and scoring system. This notice supplies the first concrete dates and tells eligible staff when and where to act. If you read the earlier piece, do not rely on its general May/November policy calendar for this cycle: the department has specifically opened this drive from August 23 through September 8, 2026.
