GATE 2027 applicants have until 5 October 2026 to register without a late fee. The extended, late-fee window closes on 12 October, according to IIT Madras’s official announcement and current dates table.
This updates our earlier registration report. Use the revised dates, not the superseded deadline in that report. The institute says dates may change; this is not a promise of another extension.
What applicants need to check
Indian nationals must register through DigiLocker. IIT Madras also advises candidates not to delete the DigiLocker account used for submission and payment, because subsequent communications are tied to that account.
The official fee table lists one-paper regular fees of ₹1,000 for female, SC, ST and PwD candidates, and ₹2,000 for other candidates. In the extended period those figures become ₹1,500 and ₹2,500 respectively. For two approved papers, regular fees are ₹2,000 or ₹4,000, and extended-period fees ₹2,500 or ₹4,500, for those same groups.
Jammu–Samba is a choice, not a guaranteed allotment
The tentative city list includes Jammu–Samba and Srinagar. Check the application’s zone and preference rules; listing a city does not guarantee that it will be allotted to you. City allotment is scheduled for 4 January 2027. An admit-card date is not yet announced in the dates table.
Qualifying GATE does not itself guarantee admission, a scholarship or employment. Check the separate eligibility and selection requirements of the programme or employer you intend to apply to.
