The indoor hall at Subhash Stadium in Udhampur was a wushu arena on 3 October 2026. About 250 women athletes from different schools and clubs took part in the Ashmita Khelo India Wushu League, organised by the District Udhampur Wushu Association, according to a Kashmir Reader report.

Who won

The report lists medallists in three weight categories:

  • Below 20 kg: Mridhini (gold), Akanksha (silver), Aarvi (bronze).
  • Below 24 kg: Advika (gold), Aprajita (silver), Koshin (bronze).
  • Below 45 kg: Tejasvi (gold), Divyanshi (silver), Divya (bronze).

The report names only these three categories and gives first names only; it does not say how many weight classes in total were contested, or the athletes' ages or schools, so those are not stated here. The chief guest was Ashok Kumar, former Director Sports at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Deputy Director in the Youth Services and Sports department. Association president Vijay Sharma, secretary Sonia Verma and national judge Yashpal were among the officials present. Organisers said the aim was to give women athletes more opportunities at the grassroots level.

What is the ASMITA league?

The league's official name is ASMITA, short for Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action. It is run under the Khelo India programme by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, with three age groups: under 13, 13 to 18 years, and 18 and above. A government release carried by All India Radio in March 2026 said more than 2,600 such leagues have been held across 34 disciplines in over 550 districts and 700 cities since the initiative began in 2021. Local associations organise them, which is why the Udhampur event was hosted by the district wushu body.

Why it matters if you are in Jammu

Udhampur is within easy reach of Jammu city, and the league gives young players a grassroots, weight-class-based event close to home. This was not Udhampur's first wushu meet of the year: the district association held a district championship at the same hall in February that also drew more than 250 players. Wushu leagues for women have also been held in Srinagar and other districts, so the sport has a visible pathway in J&K.

How to take part is not spelled out in the report. Anyone interested should ask the District Udhampur Wushu Association or the Youth Services and Sports office for the next league date, which has not been announced in the sources reviewed.
