Three players from the Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre in Jammu & Kashmir have been selected to represent India at the World Soft Tennis Championship in China, scheduled for 26 to 31 October.
They are Sidhani Singh, Shreemai Bhatt and Madhvender Singh Sambyal. According to an official statement reported by Greater Kashmir, the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India made the selection on the recommendation of the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association.
What the record shows
All three have won medals at national-level championships. Shreemai Bhatt and Madhvender Singh Sambyal also did well at the Junior National Soft Tennis Championship in Srinagar, where Bhatt won two bronze medals and Sambyal one. The report does not list Sidhani Singh's individual results, and it does not name the Chinese host city or give the players' home districts, so we have not guessed at either.
The statement credits their development to the mentorship of Indu Bhushan and to the structured training the Khelo India centre provides.
Why this matters in Jammu
Soft tennis is a racket sport played with a soft rubber ball, and it has been building a following here. JammuBeat has already followed the sport's local rise, including four Jammu teens' national bronze and a clean sweep of golds at MA Stadium. A world-level selection shows the pathway from a Khelo India centre to India colours is real.
The World Championship begins in ten days. Travel details and the team's event schedule have not been published in the source report.
