The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), through MyGov, has opened a Culture Segment Competition on Patriotism as part of Independence Day 2026 celebrations, inviting performances that capture national unity, pride, sacrifice and — specifically — the contribution of India's North Eastern states to nation-building.
What to submit
Three formats are accepted: a song, a dance performance, or a poem recitation. Judging looks at cultural relevance, authentic representation, creativity, performance skill, teamwork and how well costumes and music are used — six criteria in total, so a technically good performance without the cultural grounding will lose points.
What's actually at stake
This isn't just a certificate contest. The top 10 entries nationally get certificates, but the real prize is narrower and bigger: three winners — one from each of the eight North Eastern states — get "exciting prizes" plus an invitation to the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, New Delhi, on August 15, 2026. As of this week the contest had drawn 79 submissions, all still under review, so the field is still open.

Entries go through MyGov — log in (or create a free profile) and use the "Login to Participate" button on the contest page. Given the short window, don't wait to record a clean version; submit what you have and refine only if the platform allows edits.
For students in Jammu with roots in or ties to the Northeast, or simply anyone with a patriotic song or poem ready to go, this is a same-week opportunity, not a plan-ahead one. Six days is tight but doable for anyone who already performs.
