Scholarship money is lost on technicalities, not on merit. Here is the checklist for students who apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
The dates on the portal
The NSP homepage, scholarships.gov.in, shows the following for renewal applications in the merit-based PM-USP Central Sector Scheme and the PM-USP Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in 2026-27:
- Student application closes: 31 October 2026
- Institute (first-level) verification: 15 November 2026
- Second-level verification: 30 November 2026
The homepage does not list a last date for fresh applications, so check your scheme page.
What the University of Jammu has done
On 6 October the University of Jammu posted a notice titled "Last date extended for National Scholarship portal, University of Jammu". The notice page we reviewed does not state a new date, so read it on the university website or call the helpdesk (0191-2435248 / 2435259 / 2453544 / 2453588) before relying on any date.
Before you click submit
- Register with your One Time Registration (OTR) number.
- Complete Aadhaar face authentication. If you see error 904, update the UIDAI AadhaarFaceRD app; also make sure your Aadhaar biometric lock is "Unlocked".
- You may apply for one merit-based scheme and one or more welfare-based schemes, if eligible.
- Students with disabilities must first log in to the UDID portal and consent to sharing their UDID details.
- If you apply through a Common Service Centre, the fixed fee is Rs 30 per candidate.
Don't get caught out
Your application is not complete when you submit it; your institute must verify it, so tell your college office the day you apply. Do not wait for 31 October.
