Vidarbha beat Jammu and Kashmir by three wickets on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar, the first result of this kind for the reigning Ranji champions this season.
How it was lost
Vidarbha took a 45-run lead on the first innings, after J&K had been all out for 260 on day one. In the second innings J&K were bowled out for 123 in 39.2 overs. Abdul Samad hit 39 off 30 balls (three fours, four sixes) and Qamran Iqbal made 38 off 111 balls, but Yawer Hassan, Umran Malik and Lone Nasir were all out for ducks. Umar Nazir made 16.
The chase
Needing 79, Vidarbha reached 81 for 7 in 22.5 overs. Sunil Kumar took 4 for 30 and Umar Nazir 2 for 50 for J&K, enough to make the chase uncomfortable but not to defend the total. Harsh Dubey (22 not out) and Nachiket Bhute (13 not out) finished the job.
The men who decided it
Bhute finished with eight wickets in the match, five of them in J&K's second innings. Ravikumar Samarth was named Player of the Match for a century and 149 runs across the game.
J&K began the season as champions, as we covered when they started life as Ranji champions, and made changes for this match with Umran Malik back in the XI. The report does not mention J&K's next fixture.
