Jammu has no shortage of teenagers who can cut a decent Reel — the Income Tax Department, via the Ministry of Finance and MyGov, is now paying for that skill. The "Short Video/Reel Competition on Responsible Taxation and Nation Building" asks content creators to make a punchy, original video on honest tax compliance and how tax revenue funds public goods — schools, roads, hospitals — under the government's Viksit Bharat @2047 push.
Who can enter, and what the video needs to look like
Entry is open to Indian citizens only — content creators, influencers, students, working professionals and taxpayers alike — with no entry fee. The technical spec is tight, so check it before you shoot:
Length: 30–60 seconds, capped at 2 minutes.
Format: MPEG4 or AVI, 16:9 or 16:9 Full Height Anamorphic aspect ratio.
Original and unpublished — no reused footage, no plagiarised audio, no copyright violations.
One entry per person. Upload it publicly to Instagram or YouTube Shorts first, then submit the public link on MyGov.
The window and the payout
Entries open July 24, 2026, at 12:01 AM IST and close August 24, 2026, at 11:59 PM IST — a full month. Prizes run ₹10,000 for first, ₹7,000 for second and ₹5,000 for third, decided on how clearly the video communicates the message without slipping into anything offensive, defamatory or rights-infringing.
Why it's worth a weekend
For students already making Reels for fun, this is the rare contest where the platform (Instagram/YouTube), the format (30–60 seconds) and the audience (anyone scrolling) all match what young creators already do — the only new part is the topic. A tight, well-edited video explaining why filing taxes honestly matters could realistically out-perform a slicker but off-theme entry, since scoring leans on message clarity as much as production value.
