Shooting: Dharya Kotwal's two bronzes

Dharya Kotwal of the Mission Olympics Shooting Academy Jammu (MOSAJ) won two bronze medals at the India Open Walther Cup Champion of Champions, Daily Excelsior reported on 11 October. She reached the top-eight finalists after a qualification process spread over five National Rifle Association of India competitions, with a qualification score of 413.1 against 415.3 in the previous year's series, and finished fifth overall in the final. The report does not name the events, the venue or her age, and it does not explain how a fifth-place finish sits with two bronzes; we have not been able to reconcile that from the sources available.

Fencing: 325 athletes at Khel Gaon

The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu, began an Inter-District UT-Level Fencing Competition for boys and girls of all age groups at Khel Gaon, Nagrota on 10 October, with 325 athletes from across the UT. On day one, Udhampur took first and second place and Budgam third and fourth in the Under-19 boys' sabre. The stated aim is to identify fencers who can represent J&K regionally and nationally. Khel Gaon also runs free academies open to young athletes.
