School hours in Jammu division change from 1 October 2026. Summer Zone schools will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM; Winter Zone schools from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
Daily Excelsior and Kashmir Life reported the revised schedule on 28 September, attributing it to the Director School Education Jammu. The change covers government and recognised private schools up to Higher Secondary level in the division.
Check the zone before changing your morning
The two schedules are not interchangeable. Ask your school which zone applies and confirm its communication about reporting, dispersal and transport. A school-hours notice does not by itself tell a family the pickup time for its particular bus route.
The reports say institutions must follow the notified hours and that deviations can invite action under the applicable rules. They do not provide a separate examination timetable; pupils should continue to consult their examination notices for those arrangements.
