By the end of the second day, Abhinav Theatre had hosted 53 films from 16 countries, 12 of them from J&K, and about 3,000 visitors. The fifth Jammu Film Festival concluded on 29 September, Rising Kashmir reports; we previewed it earlier this month.
On stage and on screen
More than 300 local artists, filmmakers, actors and students took part, with around 20 delegates from across India. Masterclasses and panels on regional storytelling featured Ravi Kemmu and Danish Iqbal. Over 150 artists performed in the opening and closing ceremonies, including tabla artist Jorge Ramiro, classical musician Hiranmay Mitra and Policewala Rapper.
The awards
Asit Kumarr Modi, creator of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, presented awards across 17 competitive and special categories. The Sh. K. L. Saigal Awards went to Ved Rahi, Rita Razdan Safaya and Bashir Budgami. The report we read does not carry the category-wise winners' list.
What comes next
Festival Director Rakesh Roshan Bhat said the next edition would focus on international partnerships and opportunities for emerging filmmakers. For a young Jammu filmmaker, the useful signal is that a local platform with a market-style mix of screenings and masterclasses now exists; the entry terms for 2027 have not been announced.
