For students in Jammu weighing where an engineering degree can take them, the numbers coming out of IIT Jammu's 2026 placement season are worth a look. With the drive still ongoing, the institute has already logged more than 315 job offers from over 210 recruiting companies, according to placement data reported by major education trackers and the institute's own placement disclosures.
The headline packages
The strongest branch, as usual, is Computer Science and Engineering, where the average B.Tech package stood at about ₹26.6 lakh per annum. Core engineering branches also posted healthy averages — around ₹10.5 LPA for Chemical Engineering and ₹9.5 LPA for Civil Engineering — showing that demand isn't confined to software roles alone. More than 175 recruiters participated in the campus process, spanning technology, core-engineering and analytics firms.

IIT Jammu is one of the newer IITs, and each strong placement cycle strengthens its reputation — which in turn raises the value of studying at a national institute located right here rather than migrating out of the region.
