IIT Jammu signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the School of Artillery on 1 October 2026, covering M.Tech degrees for Army student officers.
What the MoA covers
The agreement was signed by Brigadier Virender Singh of the School of Artillery and Dr Manoj Singh Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu. Student officers undergoing the Long Gunnery Staff Course will be able to take on Technology Readiness Level (TRL)-based projects in collaboration with IIT Jammu, working on technical challenges and operational requirements of the Indian Army.
What the two sides say it is for
The stated purpose is to combine military experience with academic and technical expertise to promote research, innovation and indigenous technology solutions.
What it does not change
The report does not say anything about admissions to IIT Jammu's regular programmes, so nothing here changes eligibility or seats for local students. It also gives no programme duration, number of officers or M.Tech discipline, and we have not guessed them.
Why it is worth knowing
It shows IIT Jammu taking on defence-linked research, the kind of project-based work that students and research scholars at the institute may later encounter in labs and collaborations.
