Northern Railway has invited tenders for a modern warehouse and storage facility at Bari Brahmana railway station in the Jammu Division, under its Cargo Related Facility (CRF) scheme.
What has been announced
The project follows the Ministry of Railways' master circular on rail logistics and cargo-related facilities, issued on October 4. Tenders are for the development and operation of the warehouse, and industry stakeholders are invited to take part through e-tendering. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said: "This is the first project in the zone under the CRF policy", adding that it would directly benefit traders, industrialists and farmers in the region.
The stated aims are safe storage of goods, faster loading and unloading, better supply-chain efficiency in J&K, lower cargo-handling time and cost, and job creation.
What is not in the report
The report does not give a tender number, closing date, estimated cost, the size of the warehouse or any bidder. It does not say how many jobs are expected. Anyone running or planning a logistics or trading business near the Bari Brahmana industrial area should look for the tender on the railway's e-tendering portal rather than rely on this summary.
