Jammu’s Tawi Riverfront has a new refreshment stop. An Amul JR Ice Cream Parlour was inaugurated there on 15 July, adding a branded food-and-drink option for people using the developing public space.

The outlet was opened by Ashok Kumar Angurana, chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers’ Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL). Officials from JKMPCL, Amul, the district administration and Jammu Smart City attended the inauguration, according to local reporting.

What changes for a riverfront visit

The opening is modest compared with the riverfront’s larger landscaping, boating and public-space projects, but it fills a practical gap. Walkers, families and visitors now have a fixed refreshment point at a destination where people often spend an hour or more outdoors.

The organisers described the parlour as an amenity for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, tourists and local residents. For young people in Jammu, the more immediate use is straightforward: it gives an evening riverfront walk a reliable stop for ice cream and packaged refreshments without requiring a drive back towards the main market areas.

What is not confirmed yet

The reports announcing the opening did not publish a menu, price list or daily operating hours. Check those details at the outlet before planning a trip around it, particularly on quieter weekdays or during bad weather.

JKMPCL is Jammu and Kashmir’s dairy cooperative, and its official website says the organisation operates with technical and operational support from the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the cooperative behind Amul.
