Between 1 and 30 September, Northern Railway's Jammu Division detected 6,617 cases of ticketless travel, irregular travel, smoking and littering, and collected ₹48.88 lakh. The figures come from the division's own statement as reported by Northlines on 3 October.
The numbers
- Period: 1 to 30 September 2026
- Cases detected: 6,617
- Amount collected: ₹48.88 lakh
- Violations counted: ticketless travel, irregular travel, smoking, and littering on station premises and trains
- Stations named: Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Udhampur and Pathankot Cantt, plus checks on trains
The drive was carried out under the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu. The division said that travelling without a ticket, smoking and littering are punishable offences.
What it means if you ride this belt
The stations named are the ones most Jammu students and commuters use for Katra, Udhampur and Pathankot trips. Buy a valid ticket for the class and journey you are actually making, and keep it until you exit the station.
Station entry and exit points at Jammu Tawi also changed this month; see our note on the Jammu Tawi entry and exit swap.
What the report does not say
It does not give penalty amounts, a split of cases by type, or whether the drive continues in October. We have not filled those in.
