A ₹82.45-crore repair and renovation programme has received administrative approval for Jammu's migrant camps, covering more than 200 building blocks and around 5,000 flats and community halls. PTI, carried by The Tribune, and a separate NVI report describe the infrastructure review by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Arvind Karwani.
Do not combine every figure into completed work
The PWD has also formulated a project covering roads, lanes, parks, schools, dispensaries and Jagti's Sub-District Hospital. The reports do not establish that all these facilities are already repaired.
A long-term water-supply proposal for Jagti has a tentative cost of about ₹10 crore. It is not an approved water allocation for all four townships, as our earlier version suggested.
Sewage-treatment projects costing around ₹11.5 crore have been finalised for Nagrota, Muthi-Buta Nagar and Purkhoo, with work expected to begin shortly. Tender formalities for roughly ₹20 crore of multipurpose community halls are at an advanced stage. These are different stages, not a list of completed facilities.
What residents should watch
Officials have been directed to conduct structural audits and consult residents and camp commandants. The reports do not provide a completion date for each component. A useful next update will identify which work has actually started and its local schedule.
Correction: the earlier version treated proposed and tender-stage projects as separately approved funds across all townships. Their scope and status are distinguished above. Photo: The Tribune's file photograph of Jagti.
