Jammu's proposed multi-level parking facility at Jewel Chowk has received administrative approval at an estimated cost of ₹29.88 crore. This is a project approval, not an announcement that a new parking facility is ready to use.

Northlines reports that Housing and Urban Development Department Order 201-JK(HUD) of 2026, dated 24 September, follows a Jammu Municipal Corporation proposal. Daily Excelsior separately reports the approval and estimated cost.

What remains conditional?

The approval is subject to funds being available and the required statutory and regulatory clearances. The Northlines report describes a structure of up to six storeys including a basement, with fire safety and ventilation provisions. The approval document reproduced with that report also requires technically vetted plans and clearances before work begins.

The reports provide no opening date. We have not verified a parking-space capacity and have removed the earlier unsupported claim of 3,000 spaces. Administrative approval should not be read as proof of construction completion or immediate relief for motorists.
